[THORChain](https://thorchain.com/) is a Layer-1 blockchain developed using the Cosmos SDK and the Tendermint consensus protocol. It functions as a cross-chain, permissionless decentralized exchange (DEX) using the automated market maker (AMM) model. The network employs [Threshold Signature Schemes (TSS)](https://github.com/thorchain/Resources/blob/master/Whitepapers/THORChain-TSS-Paper-June2020.pdf) to maintain the security of its decentralized, leaderless asset vault. In this system, a node consensus of at least a two-thirds majority is mandatory for the movement of funds into and out of the primary TSS vault.
